Q&A With Jenell Metcalf, Talent Sourcing Specialist
Q: Can you tell us about your professional background and what brought you to Inside Talent?
I have worn many professional hats over the years. I have an entrepreneurial background in small business. I worked for my parents small business for 10+ years and both my husband and I have ran small businesses for the past 15 years. My experience also includes banking, management and education.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job?
The never-ending challenge. I love puzzles and putting all the pieces together. Sourcing and researching are both challenging and so rewarding.
Q: What is the best tip you would give someone just starting out in recruiting?
Ask a ton of questions. The internet, Google and YouTube are great learning resources and have a ton of information.
Q: What is the most important thing you have learned working at Inside Talent?
That it is okay not to know how to do everything all the time. This job is a complete 180 in regards to anything I have done before. I have loved the challenge and have learned so much along the way.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
Our family spends the majority of our summers on a ball field. Both my husband and I played softball until our children were old enough to have their own teams. Now, we are either watching or coaching baseball and softball.
Q: If you could choose any other job or profession (regardless of talent and ability) what would it be any why?
A professional tennis player. I have always loved the game of tennis and would love to travel the world and play professionally.
